The company was founded in 2012 by Carlo Debaeke. The idea originated during a road trip across Corsica that Debaeke took with his wife, Gerdje, and their dog. While camping remotely with a chemical toilet on board, they ran into issues with full holding tanks, strict local dumping restrictions, and foul chemical odors once the traditional additives broke down.
