The Innovative Big Green Egg is evolved from the Japanese Komado - a round clay based oven.The heavy ceramic walls are incredibly efficient at insulating and reflecting heat. This means it holds temperature flawlessly, regardless of whether it's freezing winter or a hot summer day outside.
The Big Green Egg was founded by Ed Fisher in 1974 in Atlanta Georgia in the USA.
Partly due to the ceramics, which were specially developed by NASA, these ancient, traditional clay ovens were further developed into special, fully fledged outdoor cookers.
